GameplayEven non-puzzle fans will guess Kubanoid is a Columns variant. But a good one, with changes: the field is wider, changing strategy. Plays excellently; authors clearly know and love the genre. Nice feature: progress to next level is displayed, not common in such games. Only missing option is level select in menu. Otherwise exemplary.

GraphicsIn a Columns-type game on ZX Spectrum you can’t do much visually, but Kubanoid does its best. Pieces are well-drawn and move smoothly; block disappearance looks pleasant. Also accessibility: blocks have dots like dice for colorblind players.

SoundThree excellent tunes — slow, laid-back, fit the mood. You can switch or turn off music. Sound effects are AY-made and don’t clash with music.
