GameplayI like shoot-’em-ups, including vertical ones, so I got some enjoyment from Gunman Messiah. But the game is too simple: there’s not enough variety in enemies, the hero has only one life, and the gameplay feels too standard.

GraphicsSmooth scrolling, occasional use of color — that’s a plus. The downside is that enemy bullets are hard to see against the noisy background, which is critical in bullet hells. And enemies are drawn haphazardly, though with feeling!
5
SoundThere’s no music, only faint machine gun fire. Still, it doesn’t irritate and prevents boredom. Better this than silence or harsh, grating effects.

GameplayVery basic shooter. Not something I would want to play for very long and not something I would return to.
3
GraphicsVery untidy pixel work. The floor details obscure bullets. Not good.
2
SoundOld-school basic effects. Not great.

GameplayMain issue is that the enemy bullets are very hard to see as they come towards you. Probably could have done with being bigger or having a mask around them. Only one life too? Not bad but got boring pretty quickly. Could have just about passed as a budget
